2 cats for free Please read my story

Hi the black cat is Shorty and the Grey cat is cuddles. Shorty and Cuddles were rescued from the Edison animal center is 2021. They are very loving and when they are comfortable they are vey playful. I got the cats during Covid. I love these cats and it breaks my heart that I have to find them a new home. I had a cocker spaniel that got along well with them. The cats and the dog took well to each other. Mickey, the cocker spaniel died sometime in April. I have always had a dog growing up so we immediately got a new dog, a labrador retriever. The cats didn't do well with the new dog and are terrified of the labrador. With that the cats have taken to the basement in hiding. They have been in hiding for along time. They don't play anymore and startle very easy now. They are very well taken care, but are confined to the basement because of the dog. This is no life for the cats hiding, terrified in the basement. I have been going back and forth in my head on whether or not to rehome them.  I really think they would become their playful selves in home where they are not terrified. They are both 6 years old and are both neutered. Before I rescued them they were in the shelter so they are microchipped. They use the cat litter box with no miss. They are good with everyone except for the dog who they are terrified from. They are healthy and up to date with everything. Please help me get there playful spirits back.
