A well-mannered adult German Shepherd (female, 6 years old) is looking for a committed, experienced adopter. She is fully housebroken, crate trained, and has excellent manners in the home. She is affectionate with her people, calm indoors, and thrives on routine, structure, and predictability.

She is selective with other dogs — she has gotten along with some large-breed dogs she has met, but not all. She does not resource guard with humans, but she can guard food or high-value items around other dogs. Because of this combination, an only-dog home is the safest and best fit for her. She is also not compatible with small dogs. We currently have small dogs and keep them fully separated at all times, and while she has done well with that structure, she truly craves being with her humans. We want what’s best for her, and the constant gating and crate rotations aren’t fair to her long-term. She is healthy, spayed, and up to date on all veterinary care.

This sweet girl will thrive with someone who:

  • Has experience with shepherds or other working/herding breeds
  • Has a stable daily routine and a secure yard
  • Wants a loyal, attentive companion
  • Can provide steady structure and calm leadership
  • She is not suited for first-time dog owners.

If interested, please reply with the following screening details:

1. Describe your typical weekday and weekend routine. How would a dog fit into both?

2. Tell me about your experience with German Shepherds or other large breeds — what went well, and what challenges you’ve encountered.

3. What draws you to adopting an adult shepherd specifically?

4. Describe your home environment: activity level, visitors, kids, deliveries, and any pets.

5. What is your plan for daily exercise and mental stimulation for a 6-year-old shepherd?

6. Who lives in your home, and what is their comfort level with large, strong breeds?

7. Are you open to a meet-and-greet?
