One cold fall day a beautiful calico cat showed up at the door determined to move in. Affectionate, sweet and oh so set on becoming a new family member.

But I couldn't  take her in. We'd already been adopted by King Zack, another tossed away sweet soul and had 3 young adults that were left from a pregnant stray (found home for mama and 3 of her kittens - but the other three (6 kittens total!) kittens somehow became permanent residents).

So we have 4 spayed/neutered and vaccinated cats at home which my other half thinks is more than enough. If I bring in another cat - no matter how sweet and affectionate - I'll be the one looking for a new home!

So, Callie - as we call her - the calico cat haunted our doorstep. She stalked our doormat , sitting for hours and hours leaving a white fur outline of where she slept. Peering in the windows. Sitting on our air conditioner to get a better view. She convinced King Zack that she was his girlfriend. He looks for her every day. The neighbors of our flat all know her. Everyone stops to pet her and she joyfully greets everyone who comes to get their mail. Head butts to welcome everyone, Callie never met a stranger.

And skinny. So of course I had to feed her. Twice a day. Same schedule as my inside cats and although she's not skin and bones anymore she's still slender and petite.

Winter came and with it bitter cold. Cold so cold it could kill her. So of course I had to get her an insulted kitty house with warming pad. We couldn't let her die.

But here's the dilemma ... we can't keep her. Our landlord has a no feeding strays mandate all of a sudden and Callie deserves a home. Someone to love her.

Callie is young. Figure somewhere between 2/3 years old. She was pregnant  and gave birth during that last bitter cold snap we had. Sadly she disappeared for 2 days and returned without her babies, never suckling, with her milk drying up almost immediately.

Yesterday Callie sat with me on the porch, crawled into my lap, looked deeply into my eyes and rubbed her Paw ever so gently on my cheek. It was like she was forgiving me for not being able to give her the forever home she deserves. I knew then that I must make it a priority to find Callie her person/people.

The neighbors told me when she showed up that Callie had had a home. With people who moved out and left her. Her people let her down ... and yet she still has her optimism  and love.

Callie wants in. She knew what being an indoor cat is and I suspect that once she finds her people and house she's never going to want to go outside ever again. Can you open your heart and give this sweet girl a chance?

We're asking a small rehoming fee, which will be returned and sent directly to your vet once you take her to be spayed. (No more unwanted kittens!) I'll even contribute a like amount to be paid to your vet to help offset your expenses.

We love Callie and want the best for her. Do you have room in your heart for this lost soul?

Call me anytime at (248)993-1371. We're in Kalamazoo, Mi. just a short jump North of I-94.
