Mini Goldendoodle for Sale
Mini Goldendoodle for Sale

Doodles involving the Labrador and Golden Retriever are so mainstream anymore that they seem poised on the brink of AKC recognition. It appears that the only thing left to make a Goldendoodle for everyone is to offer multiple sizes. Mini Goldendoodles for sale have expanded the opportunity for dog lovers to bring an affectionate and hypoallergenic dog into apartments and the workplace. Minis also share the advantages of standard Goldendoodles by being friendly, active, charming, and trainable.

Mini Goldendoodle Puppies Near Me

Finding a Mini Goldendoodle for sale is not difficult, but it can be a challenge to locate a breeder who values ethics over profits. You should avoid puppy mills, but you can often find great Mini Goldendoodle puppies for sale or adult dogs through a shelter or rescue. Fees usually go towards the dog’s feeding, housing, and surgeries such as a spay or neuter. If you find a Goldendoodle you like, try to find out the reputation of the breeder. Do they regularly sell Toy Goldendoodles that are exceedingly small and unthrifty? You might be able to find a breeder who even performs recommended health screenings. Any puppy you select should be bright and alert and have a visit with a veterinarian for initial vaccination series, deworming, and wellness check.

Appearance of Miniature Goldendoodle for Sale

Physical Characteristics

Although Goldendoodles represent a hybrid that can have a variable appearance, ideally, they should be a balanced and aesthetic blend of the two foundation breeds. A Goldendoodle’s head is broad at the back and tapers slightly towards the cheeks which should not look prominent. The muzzle is more like that of a Golden than a Poodle with moderate substance, width, and depth. It is slightly shorter than the length of the back skull, and the lips curve in a signature Golden Retriever smile. Goldendoodles have a moderate stop, oval-shaped, somewhat wide-spaced eyes, and ears that hang close to the face and run to the edge of the jaw. Goldendoodles also have a medium-length, slightly arched neck with no dewlap and strong shoulders. The shoulders are laidback and form an angle similar to that of the powerful hindquarters. All limbs are straight and strong. Goldendoodles, like the Poodle, have a compact square body with a straight level topline. The abdominal tuck-up from the end of the ribs to the loins is apparent but not extreme. A Goldendoodle should have a moderately deep chest without excessive breadth. The tail is high-set and carried level with the back like a Golden Retriever.

Coat and Colors

A Goldendoodle’s coat quality is unpredictable in early generations but of the utmost importance in the ideal dog. It should be soft, hypoallergenic, and low-shedding. Goldendoodles are expected to have facial furnishings, meaning there is longer hair around the eyebrows and muzzle to give the effect of a mustache and beard. These furnishings are responsible for much of the character of a Goldendoodle’s expressions. Furnishings also determine whether a dog will be low-shedding or not rather than the degree of curl. The fur comes in three varieties.

  • Curly
  • Wavy
  • Straight

Colors

Poodles, of course, contribute many more color pattern varieties to the Goldendoodle than the Golden Retriever does. Goldendoodles can be shades of apricot, red, golden, or cream from either foundation breed. Goldendoodle clubs do not recognize double dilutes (i.e., Isabella is a dilute liver) or double Merles because of associated health risks. Other standard colors besides golden shades follow below.

White and Apricot Mini Parti Goldendoodle

  • Parti – at least 50% white and a solid color
  • Brindle – striped; base and stripe colors can vary
  • Phantom or chrome – any solid color with less than 50% white markings
  • Solid colors – reds, creams, black, silver, gray, blue, and chocolate
  • Merle – swirling of black and white or red and white; double Merle breeding should be avoided at all costs, so the breeder’s reputation is crucial if you want a Merle pup

Size

A Miniature Goldendoodle has the same general appearance as a standard Goldendoodle, but what many owners value is the dog’s size at maturity. Several terms describe Mini Goldendoodles. Some of the wording simply describes identical size groups, but a few phrases refer to specialty categories.

  • Mini or Miniature Goldendoodle – 13 to 20 inches tall, 15 to 35 pounds
  • Toy Goldendoodle or Petite Mini Goldendoodle – 10 to 16 inches tall, 10 to 20 pounds
  • Teacup Goldendoodle or Micro Goldendoodle – 8 to 13 inches tall, 5 to 12 pounds

You can compare the small sizes above with a standard Goldendoodle which comes in two additional sizes. Small Goldendoodles are 17 to 20 inches tall and weigh 40 to 50 pounds. Large Goldendoodles are 20 to 24 inches tall and 50 to 90 pounds. The official breed standard only recognizes the Mini Goldendoodle and the Mini Petite Goldendoodle among Miniatures. The former is 14 to 17 inches tall with a weight of 26 to 35 pounds while the latter is under 14 inches in height and less than 26 pounds.

Personality

Miniature Goldendoodles are loyal, devoted, affectionate, and friendly, merging the similar personality traits of the Miniature or Toy Poodle and the Golden. If they were purebred dogs, they would easily walk among the top 10 smartest canines. Moreover, they have an innate desire to please their owners and seem to have an innate feeling for their wishes. Minis prefer to be by your side and make excellent watchdogs. Well-socialized dogs are neither shy nor aggressive. Their people-oriented nature makes them warm up to house visitors quickly. Miniature Goldendoodles are amiable around kids, but the tiny ones can prove too fragile for toddlers and children under five years old. Miniature Goldendoodles enjoy the company of other dogs and like to play. In most cases, you should avoid allowing a Teacup or Toy Goldendoodle to hang out with medium-sized dogs or larger ones.

Grooming

Grooming your Toy Goldendoodle will depend on the type of coat she has. A wavy coat needs brushing every two or three days to keep it from tangling. You must focus on any feathers your dog may have around the ears or tail. If your dog has tighter curls, you should brush the hair at least every other day. Those dogs that have a flat coat still may have long feathers on the chest, behind the ears, and at the lower half of the tail. These fringes can be prone to mats, especially if your dog scratches her ears a lot.

Lifespan & Health

The lifespan of a Mini Goldendoodle is around 10 to 15 years. If your heart is set on a Toy Goldendoodle or a Teacup Goldendoodle, you will struggle more often complications than you would with a Mini or small Goldendoodle.

Food Requirements

Goldendoodles are not much different to feed than other breeds. They need a meat-based diet with a basic composition of proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals. Carbohydrates can be an additional source of energy, although dogs are more efficient at breaking down fats. Your Mini Goldendoodle will require 30 to 35 calories per pound per day. A Micro Goldendoodle requires more calories for each pound of body weight than the larger Minis. You should feed your dog three times a day or more.

Exercise

Goldendoodles are so commonplace and make such wonderful family pets that many owners mistakenly assume they do not require much exercise. Goldendoodles need 60 to 90 minutes of exercise every day. Activities can include long walks, strenuous play sessions, hiking, jogging, or advanced training in competitions such as agility, Frisbee, or flyball.

Training

Like the parent breeds, Goldendoodles are highly intelligent and easy to train. Make sure to use calm, quiet, and persistent training techniques because your Goldendoodle is likely to be sensitive. Your pet’s eagerness to please you will correlate directly with the bond and trust you establish between yourself and your dog. Since Goldendoodles are so smart, varying your routine from day to day is most effective. Moreover, you should break up training sessions over several periods throughout 24 hours.
