We are looking for a standard poodle as a companion to my old English sheep dog Lucy. We believe their energies would complement each other's.We have a very nice place for dogs.  First off, we are out in the country, we have acres for them to run on when we go out with them, and we have a large fenced in back yard for when they go out alone.  We have a creek that runs through the property and very nice swimming spots nearby as well as a pond.  We are retired and it is rare for no human to be here.  We have great long-term relationships with one of the best local vets (almost all Cornell grads) and a local groomer.  I often joke about how much more I spend on Lucy's hair than my own.

We are located in central NY, in Cayuga County.  I tend to be the one who does the driving, and I am willing to go up to 4 hours for the right poodle.  The only issue that the poodle needs to get along with small dogs as my wife has Boston Terriers.  They get along well with Lucy and are used to larger dogs, but Lucy really wants someone near her own size and energy level.  Age, and sex really don't matter, though Lucy has not really been around males' long term, and the female Boston is not fixed, so an unneutered male would be a bad idea.  We have no kids, but we do have cats, but they are content to live in the master bedroom side of the house, safely fenced off from the dogs.
