Location: DMV region.Mambo is a young male black cap conure looking for a new, dedicated home. He’s friendly and playful, and for a conure he’s actually pretty quiet most of the time.

Why I’m rehoming him:

We’re rehoming Mambo due to flock dynamics, not because he’s a “bad bird.” I have female conures and don’t want to risk hormonal or broody behavior and long-term stress in the flock by keeping a male with them. I’d rather place him now in a home that’s a better long-term fit.

About Mambo:

-Species: Black cap conure (small conure species).

-Sex: Male.

-Flight: Fully flighted.

-Temperament: Curious, playful, and social once he’s comfortable.

-Noise level: On the quieter side, mostly soft chatter with occasional louder flock calls, but not a constant screamer.

-Biting: We’ve significantly decreased his biting through training and reading his body language; he still needs someone willing to continue positive reinforcement and go at his pace, but he’s made real progress. He doesn't bite maliciously; he's just never learned birdy boundaries due to being alone in a pet store for over 6 months.

Health and records:

-Hatch date certificate: 06/28/2024.

-Avian polyomavirus vaccinations: 08/02 and 08/16.

-Infectious disease panel: Cleared by lab on 02/17/2025.

-Will provide copies of all records, including his genetic sexing test, to his new home.

What kind of home he needs:

-Someone with prior parrot/conure experience or who has done solid research and is committed to learning. Not for beginners or small children!

-A home that can offer daily out-of-cage time, interaction, and enrichment (toys, foraging, training).

-An indoor, smoke-free environment.

-Someone looking for a long-term companion, not to flip, breed, or treat him like an ornament.

What he will come with:

-Info on his current diet (pellets, fresh foods, preferred treats).

-A few favorite toys/perches to make the transition less stressful.

-Notes on his routine and what has worked best for reducing biting and building trust.
