Kensington Aviary is a small, family-run aviary in Kensington, Maryland, specializing in healthy, hand-raised cockatiels and parakeets. We serve families across Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia.

Our baby cockatiels are hand-fed, handled daily, and socialized before going to their new homes. They are raised in a home environment with regular human interaction so they can become tame, friendly companion birds.

Cockatiels are usually ready for pickup after they are fully weaned and eating reliably on their own, commonly around 8 to 10 weeks of age, with some variation between individual birds. We do not rush weaning.

Visits are by appointment only. In-person visits may be arranged so families can meet and interact with available birds before deciding. Virtual visits may also be available by request.
