We are looking for a forever home for our Maximus! “Max” is a very sweet full blooded stock coat German Shepherd. He is 2yrs old, 68lbs, neutered, and he is UTD on all shots. House trained. He loves chasing a ball, being out with his humans, and loves a good treat or a bone! No food allergies noticed.
We rescued Max from a local shelter, and we wanted to give him a chance at a great home life, instead of turning him back in to the shelter. He was owner-surrendered from a rough situation. He is young, with tons of potential, and deserves a better chance at living his life!
Max needs to be the only dog in a home, and this is the reason why we need to let him move on. He is very much HIGHLY dog aggressive towards my Husky, and having to keep them separated isn’t fair to either dog, and just isn’t ideal for us any longer. (The vet stated that he was dog aggressive there as well) I do not know how he is around children, or other animals. He tends to jump on us every so often, so small children would probably not be ideal. He absolutely LOVES my husband and does okay around women, but is somewhat standoffish of me unless I have food.
Max would do very well in professional training. i.e., obedience, and then a specific job! Our plans are search and rescue training, before we discovered that he doesn’t fit in our family. He doesn’t walk well on a leash quite yet. He does have some recall, is not a very strong recall as of yet. He more or less does not know whether he’s coming or going. He knows “sit” and working on “come” and “heel”.
He is food motivated, and loves to search! Would make an excellent prospect for search and rescue training, or Police K9 academy! Not so much a protector, but does have a good bark. He randomly talks, and howls to no end when he’s bored haha.
He will not be adopted on a FCFS basis. We are in no rush to find him a home. Patiently searching for the right fit! Proven breed experience is required. He will NOT go to just anyone. If you rent, you must have landlord clearance because of the breed. Vet reference & 2 character references are required. We truly want the best for him!
