Description
Posted 15 Aug 2026Meet Maui, our handsome 2½-year-old apricot F1B Mini Goldendoodle. At approximately 18 pounds, Maui is a little guy with a big personality, a loving heart, and just enough “bougie” attitude to keep you laughing. Maui joined our family in June 2025 and quickly became a very loved member of our household. Over the past year, we have gotten to know his personality, routines, likes, dislikes, and all the little things that make him uniquely Maui. Maui is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, fully house-trained, and crate-trained. He thrives with routine and has wonderful household manners. One of Maui’s best qualities is that he loves people and children. He is affectionate and friendly and absolutely loves a good hand rub. If you’re willing to sit and rub him, chances are you’ve already made a new best friend! He enjoys being around his family and likes simply being included in everyday family life. But, Maui doesn’t require someone to entertain him every minute of the day. He plays very well independently with his toys and can happily occupy himself. When it’s time to go outside, though, he’s ready for some fun. He enjoys playing ball, running around the yard, and occasionally breaking into a serious case of the zoomies. Maui has been trained to stay within the boundaries of our yard without anything but a command. Of course, because a new home would be an unfamiliar environment, his new family should provide appropriate supervision and establish new boundaries with him before ever expecting him to understand where he can and cannot go. Maui is friendly with other dogs when given the opportunity to properly greet them. He can occasionally be a little “bougie” around dogs that are extremely energetic or overly playful. Sometimes Maui simply isn’t interested in all that excitement! We do not know how he would do living with cats because he hasn’t had that experience with us. His crate is truly his personal space. Every night, Maui goes into his crate by himself when it’s time for bed. He also recognizes the signs that we’re getting ready to leave the house and will voluntarily go to his crate. If he’s placed in his crate while everyone is still home, he may whine because he would much rather be out spending time with his family. Maui is fully house-trained and accustomed to an established potty routine. He also has excellent manners inside the house and does not get on our indoor furniture or enters the kitchen. Then there are the little things that really make Maui special. Maui says grace before he eats, paw and all. ❤️ He knows there is a family routine before mealtime and waits before beginning his food. He currently eats a combination of quality kibble and homemade food prepared just for him. Maui also happens to be quite the little gentleman when it comes to personal care. He enjoys bath time, is accustomed to regular grooming, and does well having his teeth brushed. His new family won’t be starting from scratch trying to teach an adult Goldendoodle to tolerate normal grooming. And if you’re looking for a travel companion, Maui is ready. He loves car rides, especially when he can enjoy some fresh air from an open window or the sunroof. He’s perfectly happy riding along and being part of the adventure. Why are we rehoming Maui? Our decision to find Maui another home has nothing to do with behavioral problems. When Maui joined our family in June 2025, our circumstances allowed him to have the companionship and family interaction he was accustomed to. Since then, our work circumstances have changed significantly. There are now days when our extended work hours require Maui to be home alone for approximately 12 hours. We don’t believe that’s fair to him or consistent with the quality of life he was accustomed to when he became part of our family. This is not an easy decision. However, we believe that loving a pet sometimes means recognizing when your circumstances have changed and making a difficult decision based on what will give that animal the best life going forward. We want Maui to have more than a place to stay. We want him to have companionship, interaction, playtime, family time, affection, and all those hand rubs he loves so much. Maui comes with his belongings We want his transition into his new home to be as comfortable and familiar as possible. Maui will therefore go to his new family with many of his belongings, including his:
- Complete FurMe grooming system
- Crate
- Bedding
- Clothing
- Toys
- Personal supplies
- Available vaccination/health information
Having familiar belongings around him should help make the transition into his new environment a little easier. Most importantly, we are not looking for simply anyone willing to take Maui. We are looking for the right home for him.
