Description
Posted 12 Feb 2026With a very heavy heart, I am trying to find a loving new home for my late mother-in-law’s sweet boy. She recently passed, and he has already experienced so much change and loss. He is approximately 12–13 years old, neutered, and truly one of the most affectionate cats I’ve ever known.
He can be a little skittish at first — which is completely understandable — but once he feels safe, he becomes incredibly loving and devoted. When he’s happy and relaxed, he drools ever so slightly, which is honestly the sweetest little sign that he feels content. He absolutely adores being held and will happily curl up in your lap for as long as you’ll let him.
He is primarily an indoor cat and is well-adjusted to using a litter box. If he feels secure in his environment, he may explore outside a bit, but he doesn’t wander far from home. He can coexist with dogs given patience and time to adjust.
The one challenge — and the reason for this heartbreaking decision — is that he does not do well with other cats. I have tried for over 11 years to help him adapt to my existing cats, using slow introductions and every method I could think of, but it has simply never worked. He would truly thrive as the only cat in a calm, loving household where he doesn’t feel stressed or territorial.
This is not a decision made lightly. I love him deeply and would keep him in a heartbeat if I could. But I cannot continue to keep my home separated indefinitely, and he deserves a peaceful environment where he can fully relax and be cherished.
If you or someone you know has room in your heart and home for a gentle, affectionate senior boy who just wants love and stability, please reach out. My greatest hope is to find him a safe, compassionate home where he can live out his golden years surrounded by warmth and care.
