Need to Rehome our Senegal Parrot (Pickles) - she says a few words and does a lot of nice whistling. The cage in the pictures is included. There is a $100 (negotiable) rehoming fee it is more important Pickles gets a good home that people understand care than the fee.. She has always been an indoor bird. She eats pellets (Harrison’s) and is given seeds as treats. She is approx 10 years old. Currently clipped so she can’t fly as we have ceiling fans. We are located in Riverview Florida (near Big Bend Rd. and 301).
Unfortunately we’re in a position we must move and our mother-in-law is moving is with us and has a severe allergy to the dander as she has very bad asthma. It is not fair for Pickles to be locked in a room with no surrounding interaction.
A Senegal parrot typically has a life expectancy of: 25–30 years on average. With excellent care many live 35–40+ years in captivity.
What most affects lifespan:
•Diet: High-quality pellets + fresh vegetables (especially leafy greens), limited seeds
•Veterinary care: Regular avian-vet checkups
•Mental stimulation: Toys, foraging, interaction (they’re very intelligent)
•Environment: Clean cage, good lighting, stable routine, minimal stress
•Bonding: Senegals are very people-oriented and thrive with daily interaction
Because of their long lifespan, they’re often considered a lifetime companion pet.
