Our platform provides a variety of features and benefits to help users find their perfect pet match or promote their pet listings:

While we do our best to keep our site safe and run numerous security checks in the background, it’s not possible to verify the content of each ad. Users should always exercise caution when dealing with potential buyers or sellers. Meet in a safe place, such as in front of a police station, and never pay money in advance to someone you do not know. If you encounter any fraud attempts or suspicious activity, please send your evidence to [email protected] so that we can take appropriate action to protect our users.

Registration

To send messages or post ads, you need to register on this page: https://petclassifieds.com/register/ Registration is free of charge. You only need an email address and a valid phone number. Both will not be shared and by default not be shown to other users or publicly. Please do not share your login information with anyone. Our support will never ask you for it. After registering by email, you will receive a confirmation email. Please click the link in it to verify your email address. If you did not receive an email, please check your spam folder.

Email already exists

If you try to register and get the message “Email already exists”, it means that you have already registered on our site. Instead of the registration page, please use the login page here. On the login page, enter your email address and the password you chose. If you cannot remember the password, please click the “Forgot password?” link on the same page, and the system will send you a link to reset your password.

Account not verified

On registration, you are required to verify your email by clicking on the link that was sent to you via email (If you can’t find the email, please check your spam folder). If you can’t click on the link (some email providers won’t link it), just copy and paste it into the address bar of your browser and press Enter. After that, you can log in with your e-mail and the password you have chosen. Please note that there is no other verification than clicking/opening this link, and only your email gets verified. If you have chosen to display your phone number on your ad and someone is texting you about a “verification code”, “6 digit code”, or something similar, please ignore it as this is a scam. Forgot password

If you cannot remember your password, please click on the “Forgot password?” link on the login page, and the system will send you a link to reset your password.

Change password

If you would like to change your password, please click “Edit Profile” below your username on your profile page (https://petclassifieds.com/profile/). At the top of the settings, you will find the link “Change Password”. If you have forgotten your password, please use the “Forgot Password?” link instead, which is on the login page.

Access from abroad/ VPN/ Proxy/ VPS

To protect our users from scammers, access to PetClassifieds.com is only allowed from a few countries. Our site may not be accessible to you if you are traveling abroad. Accessing our website using technologies that hide your actual location, such as VPN, proxy, VPS, is also not allowed. You can learn how to disable them here.

Delete Account

To delete your account, please go to your profile page (https://petclassifieds.com/profile/) and click on “Edit Profile” below your username. Then scroll down the page. There you will find a link labeled “Delete account?”. After clicking and confirming, your account will be irrevocably deleted.

Buyer FAQ

Contact seller

Generally every seller can be contacted via our message system. In the upper part of each ad there is a button “Send Message”.

If a seller has decided to display his number as well, the button “Click to View Number” will appear next to it.

Reply to a message

To reply to a message, please visit your profile ( https://petclassifieds.com/profile/ ) and click on the “Messages” button. Then click on “Sent offers” and then on one of the envelope icons. Each Icon opens another chat.

Alternatively, you can click on the notifications in the top bar, this will take you directly to a conversation.

Ad is gone

There are several reasons why an ad can be gone. Reasons are for example

Seller has temporary disabled the ad

Seller has sold the item and permanetly disabled the ad*

Ad was reported and removed

 

*If you click on the seller’s name at the ad, you will get to his public profile. There you can see how many ads someone has sold, if the seller has marked them as sold accordingly.

Chat history gone

If an ad is deactivated or deleted, the associated chat history is also deactivated or deleted.

Blocked by Seller

Any seller can block any other user from sending messages to that particular seller.

If you think a seller blocked you accidentally, try to contact the seller by phone if the phone number is provided.

Otherwiese please try to find another ad.

Ad Guidelines

If you want to publish classified ads with us, you must follow our advertising guidelines. The most recent version can be found here: https://petclassifieds.com/ad-guidelines/

Post Ad

To post an ad, please go to https://petclassifieds.com/post-ad/

The form has 3 parts. On part 1 please enter a title (e.g. Golden Retriver Pup for Sale) and select a category (Dogs & Puppies + Golden Retriever), then press next.

On part 2 please select what type of ad, price type etc. and you have to upload at least 1 image (min dimension 410px by 4100px). From below you can enter a description for your ad. Once finished on that page, please also press next.

On part 3 it is required to add a phone number. You can select if you want to display you phone number on the ad but that is not required. Below please select your location from the dropdowns and please enter a street or city into the “map for location” field and click the result suggested by auto complete.  After that, just press submit and that’s it.

Images

At least one picture is required. In the case of an ad for a pet, the respective pet must be pictured.

The minimum size is 410 pixels by 410 pixels and the largest file size is 100 MB.

To prevent the preview image from being cropped, please use a landscape image in the first place. Recommended size: 1000 pixels by 700 pixels

Images can be rearranged via the “Click here to rearrange the ad photos”  link in the ad title area of an ad.

You can upload up to 25 pictures per ad.

Inactive Ad / In Review

If your ad is inactive after submission, it means that it is currently being checked by our anti-spam system and will be published shortly. This process usually takes less than 10 hours. Please do not submit any duplicates as this will only slow down the process.

Premium Packages / Featured Ads

The packages are a one-time payment. If you apply a featured package to your ad, it will be displayed above the normal ads.

When you apply the banner to an ad, it is used up. When you delete a featured ad, the banner applied to it is also deleted.

To see how many featured ads or bump-up’s you have left, please navigate to your Profile Page. (https://petclassifieds.com/profile/)

Click on “Profile” below your username. Here you can also see when your package expires.

How to apply purchase/ Featured Ad

To apply your purchase please visit your profile: https://petclassifieds.com/profile/

From there, please click the “MAKE FEATURED” button below your ad to make an ad featured.

If you press the “BUMP UP” button below an ad, it will be pushed back to the top.

Featured Ads Best Practice

Featured ads are displayed 4h above normal ads. This happens the first time the featured banner is applied to an ad and at every bump up of an featured ad.

If you have normal and featured ads, it is more worthwhile to bump up the featured ads, as only the featured ads qualify for the 4h rule.

If you have several ads, it makes more sense to push up only 1-2 ads at a time. Otherwise they will take away each others reach.

Edit Ad

To edit your ad, please visit your profile and click on the pencil below the ad.

Or  visit your ad and click on “Edit” below the title (you need to be logged in to see the edit link), this will also open the editor.

 

Ad does not appear in the related category

If your ad is displayed in the parent category after submission, e.g. in “Dogs & Puppies” but not in the relevant breed category, you have not selected a subcategory.

To select a subcategory, please edit your ad.

To edit your ad, please visit your profile and click on the pencil below the ad.

Remove the main category “Dogs & Puppies” by clicking on the X. Select “Dogs & Puppies” again. Another selection box appears. There you can select the subcategory, e.g. “Texas Heeler”.

Select the appropriate subcategory and then click Next and Submit on the next page. Your ad will now also be displayed in the selected subcategory.

Email Notifications

If you have an active ad, you will receive notifications about messages from interested parties to your email. Once you deactivate your ad (from “Active” to “Expired” or “Sold”), you will no longer receive notifications.

Reply to a message

To reply to a message, please visit your profile ( https://petclassifieds.com/profile/ ) and click on the “Messages” button. Then click on “Received offers” and then on one of the envelope icons. Each Icon opens another chat.

Disable Ad / Remove Ad

There are 2 ways to remove your ad. Please visit your profile page first: https://petclassifieds.com/profile/

From there you can

1. Change the status of your ad from “Active” to “Expired” or “Sold”. Both will remove your ad from our website, but for you it will still be accessible via your profile.*

Or

2. Press the red cross below your ad. This will complete remove your ad (for you also)**

Please note

*The chat history of an inactive ad is no longer visible. Only when the ad is reactivated, the messages will be visible again.
**If you delete the ad via the red cross, the associated chat histories are also deleted.

Spam Contacts

There is a simple solution to prevent 99.9% of all spam contacts, uncheck “display phone number public” on page 3 of the ad edit form. You can still be contacted by interested parties through our site and these messages are spam filtered.

Spam Texts (Verification Code, Six Digit Code)

Please never send anyone a verification code, this is a known scam: https://petclassifieds.com/dont-fall-for-this-verification-code-scam/

If you would like to remove your phone number (Interested parties can contact you through our messaging system and you will be notified by email), please remove the checkmark from “Show phone number on ad” on post ad form page 3.

How To Block and Report Spam Texts

As long as the sender didn’t hide their number, you can report it using one of these methods:

  1. The Federal Trade Commission’s Complaint Center
  2. 7726 Spam-reporting service—forward the message to the number
  3. Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, or another carrier company
  4. Report option on your phone

Another method is to block suspicious numbers using third-party apps. You can also block spam messages on Android or stop spam texts on an iPhone

Auto Ad removal after 6 months

Ads dated back more than 6 months (including Expired or Sold ads that are still in your account) will be automatically deleted from our system.

With a “Bump Up” you can set the date of your ad to current and bring it back to the top of the current ads.

Ad removed for violations

If your ad violates any of the following, we will remove it at our discretion and without prior notice:

  • Duplicate (multiple ads for the same pet)
  • Spam (multiple ads for different locations)
  • Unsupported ad topic (No matching category)
  • Protected species (Ads on species prohibited by local or national law or listed under the Washington Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.)
  • Pets from abroad (pet is located outside the specified country)
  • Fraudulent intent (fake ads)
  • Stolen pictures/ stock photos
  • User complaints with evidence of dishonest seller (fraud, sick pets, etc.)
  • Suspended account

Account suspended

We will suspend your account, at our discretion and without prior notice, if you violate any of the following

  • Account duplicates (multiple accounts for the same user/ same business/ same pet)
  • Spam (multiple ads for different locations)
  • Unsupported ad topic (No matching category)
  • Pets from abroad (pet is located outside the specified country)
  • Fraudulent intent (fake ads)
  • Stolen pictures/ stock photos (if you claim this is the pet your selling)
  • User complaints with evidence of dishonest seller (fraud, sick pets, etc.)
  • Protected species (Ads on species prohibited by local or national law or listed under the Washington Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.)
  • If you report one of our emails to your Internet Service Provider as spam, our system will not be able to interact with you anymore, which will also result in the permanent suspension of your account. You will not be able to get an answer from our support, because they will not be able to write to you. Even though you may have done this unintentionally, there is no possibility of recovery.
